Questions people ask

How does exporting a video work?

Open a story and tap Export. Pick the quality and frame rate, then Export MP4. The video is rendered on your phone (nothing is uploaded), and when it’s ready you can Save to Photos or Share it. Long stories at 1080p or 60 fps take a little longer; keep the app open while it renders.

On the website, press Export in the editor: the MP4 is made in your browser.

Why is there a watermark? What does the free plan include?

The free plan of the iOS app lets you try everything that matters: 3 projects, videos up to 30 seconds, 720p at 30 fps with a small watermark, and one chat style (iMessage), with the Natural and No typing presets.

  • Plus removes the watermark and adds WhatsApp, 1080p, videos up to 3 minutes, unlimited projects, every preset, the mockup layout, share links, the AI assistant and 100 AI voice credits a month.
  • Pro adds 60 fps, videos up to 20 minutes, split layouts, video backgrounds, music, advanced timing, bigger share links and 400 AI voice credits a month. Lifetime is Pro, paid once.
I bought a plan. How do I restore it?

Open the plans screen (the paywall) and tap Restore. Use the same Apple ID that made the purchase. If you linked your account with Apple, your plan also follows you to a new phone when you sign in.

How do I get my projects back on a new phone?

Your projects are backed up to the cloud automatically. To move them to another phone, link the account with Apple first: on your old phone, go to Settings › Account & backup › Link with Apple. On the new phone, install dotdotdot, open the same screen and sign in with the same Apple ID: your projects are restored.

An anonymous account (not linked with Apple) can’t be opened on another phone, so link it before you switch.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings › Account & backup › Delete account. This deletes your cloud backups (with their photos, videos, sounds and voice notes), your AI voices, your credits (bought ones too) and your account from our servers. You can choose to also delete the projects on your phone. It can’t be undone.

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a subscription (see below), and doesn’t remove share links: stop sharing them first. More in the Privacy Policy.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions › dotdotdot and tap Cancel Subscription (or use Manage subscription in the app). Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.

For a refund, ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What are credits?

Credits pay for AI voices: turning text into speech, in a voice from our directory, and re-voicing a recording. How many a clip takes depends on its length and the voice (about 1 credit for every 10 characters of speech). If a voice can’t be made, its credits are given back.

  • Plus includes 100 credits a month and Pro (and Lifetime) 400. They reset each period and don’t roll over.
  • Need more? Buy a credit pack in the app. Bought credits never expire; monthly credits are spent first.

Credits have no cash value, can’t be transferred and belong to your account. More in the Terms.

My credits are missing after a purchase

Close dotdotdot and open it again, with an internet connection: a purchase that didn’t reach us is added automatically. A purchase waiting for approval (for example Ask to Buy) arrives once it is approved.

Credits belong to your dotdotdot account, not to your Apple ID, so Restore doesn’t bring them back. On a new phone or after reinstalling, sign in to the same account with Apple (Settings › Account & backup). That’s why you should link your account with Apple before you switch: an anonymous account can’t be opened on another phone.

Still missing? Write to us below with the topic Purchases and subscriptions, the app version and the date of the purchase.

Can I get a refund for credits?

Credit packs are bought through Apple, so refunds go through Apple: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds ourselves. When Apple refunds a pack, its credits are removed from your balance, even if you spent them (the balance can go below zero).

Credits for a voice that failed are given back to you automatically.

Is the website free too?

Yes. The web editor at dotdotdot.batuhan.org/app is free, needs no sign-up and adds no watermark. Your stories stay in your browser. The plans are for the iOS app.

Someone shared a story about me. How do I report it?
